It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that the Management and Staff of North Area Funeral Home, along with the Pinckney family announce the passing of Deacon George Pinckney, Sr., "affectionally known as "Brog " of North Charleston, SC. He peacefully departed this life on Thursday, December 25, 2025, at Lowcountry Community Hospice House in Summerville, SC surrounded by his loving family and friends. A dedicated father, brother, uncle, friend, and member of Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church. His encouraging words and sharing the love of God to many, an outstanding person who was loved by many his smile, caring, and compassionate love for his community, family and church. As we mourn his loss, we also celebrate the incredible legacy he leaves behind—a legacy of love, laughter, and generosity.
The most precious memories of Deacon George Pinckney, Sr., will forever resonate in the lives of his loving children: Mary Pinckney-King (Corey), George Pinckney, Jr., Micah Pinckney, and Nicholle Pinckney Nobles (Justin). He is also survived by his devoted siblings: Shirley Burgess (Silas), Lula Mae Smalls, Lawrence Pinckney, Jr. (Vivian), Shirley Frost (Franklin), and Timothy Pinckney (Linda), mother-in-law, Elizabeth Meyers, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. As we gather to honor his life, let us cherish the memories we hold dear and celebrate the love he shared with all of us. His spirit will continue to inspire and guide us, reminding us of the importance of family, faith, and community. Deacon George Pinckney, Sr. will be deeply missed but forever remembered in our hearts.
His Celebration of Life service will take place on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at 11AM, Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 5885 Rivers Avenue, North Charleston, SC 29406. Rev. Dr. Timothy R. Simmons, Sr, Pastor. His wake service will take place on Friday, January 2, 2026, 6:00PM-8:00PM, Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 5885 Rivers Avenue, North Charleston, SC 29406. Deacon Pinckney will be laid to rest in Johnson Cemetery, 7136 Stall Road, Charleston, SC 29406. Please keep the Pinckney family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
