It's with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of a mother, grandmother, aunt, niece, cousin, and a friend, Mrs. Ernestine Smalls, 85, affectionately called "Ernie" of Charleston, SC who joined the heavenly choir on Monday, July 8, 2024. Ernestine will truly be missed by friends and family, her special talent, baking chewies, brownies and cakes, a woman with blessed hands, loving heart, and beautiful smile.  Mrs. Smalls leaves to cherish her loving memories, her children, Irvin Smalls, Marvin Smalls (Venee), Sylvia Keupp (Pierre), and Lamar Smalls (Duchess), fourteen grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, adopted daughter, Donna Pinckney, aunt, Rebecca Blake, two special cousins, Marian Gathers and Donna Matthews, two close friends, Yvonne Fordham (James) and Lorraine Pokryfka, best friend, Estell Gibbs, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends are invited to attend her Christian Wake Service will take place on Friday, July 12, 2024, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at North Area Funeral Home Chapel, 4784 Gaynor Avenue, North Charleston, SC 29405.  Her Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2024, 11:00 am, Baptist Educational Center,2026 Jacksonville Road, North Charleston, SC 29405.  Mrs. Smalls will be laid to rest in Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, 5885 Rivers Avenue, North Charleston, SC 29406.  Arrangements entrusted to: NORTH AREA FUNERAL HOME, 4784 Gaynor Ave, N.
