It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that the Management and Staff of North Area Funeral Home and the Chaplin family regretfully announce the peaceful passing of Francis Patterson "Chop" Patterson Chaplin, Jr, of Charleston, SC, on Saturday, March 21, 2026.

A devoted son, brother, and father, he was outspoken, full of laughter, and always ready to have fun. He opened his heart, wallet, and home to anyone in need—without judgment. His energy and generosity brought light and love to every room he entered.  We mourn his loss and are grateful for a life filled with love, laughter, and memories that will be treasured always.

The most precious memories of Francis Patterson "Chop" Patterson Chaplin, Jr, will forever resonate in the lives of his son, Honor Da'lonte Chaplin, mother, Shequilla McQueen, three sisters, Karen Bennett (Gussie), Gloria Cuttino, and Charlene Patterson, one brother, Clifford Patterson, a longtime friend, Tiwanna Wright, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

A Celebration of Life service will take place on Saturday, April 4, 2026, 12:00Noon, Empowerment Baptist Church, 2026 Jacksonville, Road, North Charleston, SC 29405, Rev. Thomas Ravenell, Pastor.   Wake services will take place on Friday, April 3, 2026, 6:00-8:00PM, in the funeral home chapel.  Please keep the Chaplin family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
