It's with profound sadness and heavy hearts, the Management and Staff of North Area Funeral Home along with the Johnson family announce the passing o f Mother Josephine Johnson, 100, of North Charleston, SC who peacefully departed this life on Thursday, September 18, 2025. A beloved soul who touched the lives of many. She loves sing and witnessing the love of God..  Her favorite saying, "You must have a personal relationship with God and put all your trust in him, he will see you through. She was a proud and dedicated member of Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church, where she serves as the church mother and missionary.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Margaret Mitchell, her children, Carl Hamilton, Nathan Johnson, and Eleanor Brown, her siblings, Rosa Mitchell, Betty Mitchell, Joseph Mitchell, Solomon Mitchell, Eugene Mitchell, and Helen Mitchell.

The most precious memories of Mother Josephine Johnson will resound in the life of her children, Ronald Lee Johnson (Brenda), and Constance Felicia Surovy (Joseph), fourteen grandchildren, twenty-three great grandchildren, siblings, Shirley Middleton and Bernice Killobrew, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Her Celebration of Life service will take place on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at 11:00PAM, Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 4885 Rivers Avenue, North Charleston, SC 29406, Rev. Dr. Timothy R. Simmons, Sr., Pastor.   A walk through will take place on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, 6:00PM-8:00PM, Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 4885 Rivers Avenue, North Charleston, SC 29406.
