It's with profound sadness and heavy hearts that the Management and Staff of North Area Funeral Home along with the Mayes family announces the passing of a daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, aunt,and friend, Mother Mary Mayes ,85, of North Charleston, SC who gained her heavenly wings on Friday, August 30, 2024.  She will be missed dearly by family, friends, and the Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church family, her beautiful smile, loving and caring spirit and words of encouragement. The most precious memories of Mother Mary Mayes will resound in the life of her loving children, Donna Mayes and Cassandra Mayes, grandchildren, Deirdre Mayes, Tyquan Mayes, and Sade Mayes, great-grandchildren, her siblings, Mattie Murray, Clarence Mayes (Susie), Cullie Mayes (Ann), Leon Mayes (Rosalie), Christina Gorham (Henry), Francina Mayes, and Arthur Mayes (Mildred), nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A viewing will be held on Monday, September 9, 2024, from 6:00-8:00Pm in the funeral home chapel.  Her Celebration of Life Services will be held on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at 1:00PM, Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church, 3317 Meeting Street Road, North Charleston, SC 29405.
