It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that the Management and Staff of North Area Funeral Home along with the Johnson family announce the passing of Raleigh Johnson Jr. (Coffee), age 74, of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina. Raleigh passed away peacefully on Friday, September 11, 2026.

Born in New York to the late Rena Major and Raleigh Johnson Sr., Raleigh loved jazz and had a passion for cooking. To know Raleigh was to hear a smooth jazz record playing while waiting on your food at H&R Sweet Shop, which he ran for many years. Music and food brought joy, warmth, and connection to everyone around him.  

He was a devoted father and a cherished grandfather.

He is survived by his two children, including his devoted daughter Shakira; five grandchildren, including his devoted grandson, Josiah; his siblings, Willie Major (Mamie), devoted brother Anthony Major (Veronica), Audrey Singleton, Shana Singleton (James), and Darryl Singleton (Donna); his devoted niece Renee; special caregivers Mamie and Janice; as well as extended family and friends.
