It's with profound sadness and heavy hearts, the Management and Staff of North Area Funeral Home along with the Barnhart family announce the passing of Mr. Raleigh Barnhart, Jr., affectionally known as "Turk" of North Charleston, SC who departed this life on Tuesday, July 8, 2025. He was the beloved son of, The late Raleigh and Effie Barnhart, Alfred and Sarah Sanford. Raleigh retired from the United States Air Force after serving 20 years. He was also a dedicated government employee of the US Naval Weapon station and the Charleston Air Force Base for over 20 years until his untimely death. A dedicated memeber of Oak Grove MIssionary Baptist.  He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and friend.  Raleigh will truly be missed by his family and friends, his loving sprirt, heart of gold, smiling face, and  words of wisdom to everyone, he met. His legacy will definetly live on through his family and friends.

The most precious memories of Mr. Raleigh Barnhart, Jr., will resound in the life of his loving and devoted wife of 43 years, Marilyn Barnhart, his three daughters, Latoya (Tracy)Elliott, Shaneekqua (Melvin) Grant, and Tikesha Barnhart, four grandsons, Decarlos Barnhart, Latrell Marshall, Zaire Grant, and Don Simmons Jr., his siblings, the late Lucious (Ruby) Sanford, the late Alfred (Regina) Sanford, Mary (Lonnie) Sanford, the late Gertrude (the late Robert) Moore, Sarah Sanford, and adopted brother, Alvin (Carolyn) Johnson, brother in laws, Deacon Randy (Gloria) Edwards, Jackie Edwards, and Joe Washington, sister in laws, Debra (Deacon Edward) Evans and Delores (Larry) Powell, a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, other relatives, and friends.

His Celebration of Life service will take place on Sunday, July 13, 2025, at 2:00PM, at Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 5885 Rivers Avenue, North Charleston, SC 29406. A viewing will take place on Saturday, July 12, 2025, from 6:00PM-8:00PM, at Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 5885 Rivers Avenue, North Charleston, SC 29406. Mr. Raleigh Barnhart, Jr. , will be laid to rest in Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.
