Charleston - Payton- Mrs. Vernell Shingler Payton of Charleston, SC passed away on Monday, May 31, 2021.  She was the beloved mother of; Matthew McKinney, Darryl McKinney (Nora), Shantay Young (Raymond),and Tiesha Via, siblings; Rebecca Jacob, Frankie Shingler, and John Lee Shingler, other relatives, and friends.

The relatives and friends of Mrs. Vernell Shingler Payton are invited to her walk through on Saturday, June 5, 2021, 6-8PM in the funeral home chapel.  Her Celebration of Life service will be held on Sunday, June 6, 2021, 1PM at Faith Covenant Cathedral , 1301 Remount Road, North Charleston, South Carolina 29406.  She will be laid to rest in Johnson Cemetery, 7136 Stall Road, North Charleston, SC 29406.  Due to COVID-19; everyone is required to wear a face mask and practice social distancing.  Arrangements by NORTH AREA FUNERAL HOME, 4784 Gaynor Ave, N.
